"No, thanks." Lane has two glasses of punch clutched beneath the dozen rings lining her fingers. At my dismissal she doesn't hesitate in downing both.
"What's eating you, lovely?" Lane has an airiness to her that makes it seem like she's constantly floating. Even her wavy blonde hair sits unnaturally high. "Nothing, I'm fine."
She raises her pencil thin eyebrows, making the top of her face look as if it's home to a cartoon bird you'd find in a kids book. It makes me laugh a little. "Seriously. I need to drive later."
"What? Where to? This is an all night party. What could be more important?"
